The Sales and Marketing Associate Intern will be responsible for shaping and driving creative, innovative and high-impact sales and marketing strategies with a goal of increasing lead generation and customer interaction. The goal is to get the VPLS Inc. name and VPLS sales and engineering teams in front of new customers in new and interesting ways to generate more leads and sales. The role is a true hybrid of inside sales, event marketing and online marketing that promises to be fun and challenging.
This role will be responsible for creating a comprehensive go-to-market strategy inclusive of online and offline sales and marketing campaigns. Our ideal candidate possesses tremendous communication and leadership skills, and a strong interest in technology sales and/or marketing. In addition, you will focus on developing more strategic relationships with our key partners by working to better understand the channel programs in place, key technology trends and needs within the marketplace and leveraging all MDF and Co-op funds available for marketing campaigns. The position will be based at VPLS’s headquarters in Orange, CA.
Social Media: Manage company social media including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube with the goal of building audience and engagement and to drive attendance to events with the ultimate goal of generating more leads for our sales team
Email Marketing: Manage and optimize email marketing campaigns. Build and optimize our marketing database. Generate new and better email and online marketing content.
Event Planning: Plan frequent events and other marketing campaigns with an approximate budget. Work with our partners to reserve marketing funds, and use those funds to plan customer / prospect events. Drive attendance to events with emails and phone calls. Follow up with customers after events to set meetings for sales teams.
Inside Sales: Call and Email new and prospective customers. In person deliveries of marketing materials to selected customers and prospects with the goal of setting new client meetings.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Outgoing and fearless – Must be willing to call, email or show up in person to deliver our message to clients
Strong social media and social marketing skills
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency required

Ability to think creatively to some up with new ideas to engage customers

Fluent command of the English language required
